• There are some programs that allow you to communicate with different programs using the one piece of software the links to these programs are also provided below.  The problem with this is that some messengers services such as AOL and ICQ tried to monopolise the market by making communication with other messengers services difficult, this is very unfortunate as it forces us to download more than one version of software just to communicate with our friends.

 MSN Messenger          Features: Voice chat, video, filesharing messenger service, online alert and links to MSN services. Works through Netmeeting for voice and video.

 AOL Instant Messenger  Features: Online alert, file swapping and other regular IM features. Not tested for some time so checkout the website for the latest info.

ICQ   This is the most popular of all the IM's as it has all the features of the others and more, it can do almost anything you may want it to online. The website has all the info you will need to make up your mind.

Bravenet Messenger      Features: Not as feature packed as the others however it does have the ablility to allow you to talk to people in ther IM's as you can log into more that one at a time. A good one to have if all your friends are on different services.
